Soilless Farm Lab Opens Vegetable Store In Lagos

Must Read

News in brief:
– Soilless Farm Lab is opening a new store in Lagos State to sell high-quality, traceable vegetables to consumers.
– The company had announced one store in Nassarawa State earlier as it looks into expanding its business.

Soilless Farm Lab has announced the opening of a physical store in Lekki, Lagos State. In a post on X, the company’s team lead, Samson Ogbole, revealed the news, adding that the perks of shopping with them include access to fresh and high-quality vegetables.

Set to open on September 7, 2024, this store will be an outlet for Ogbole and his team to sell vegetables to the public.

The company grows vegetables in farms and greenhouses located in Nigeria. One unique addition that Soilless Farm Lab is bringing to food production is proof of traceability. Typically, Nigerians rarely know how or where the food they consume comes from.

However, with the world advancing and several urban dwellers becoming more mindful of things like origin and deforestation, there is more emphasis on what they eat. Companies that are able to tap into this changing consumer behavior are set to benefit the most if traditional producers fail. One example is a recent news about Ogbole’s startup shipping habanero pepper seedlings that were sourced from the Netherlands to the United Kingdom after being cultivated on a farm in Nigeria.

Additionally, as the name implies, the company is also focused on soilless farming, which employs any of the hydroponics, aeroponics, and aquaponics techniques. With a 28-hectare greenhouse, it is able to produce food without restrictions that come with usual farming methods. Ogbole revealed that they already export 10 tons of Ugwu, 2 tons of Tete vegetables, 2 tons of Shoko leaves, 2 tons of Ewedu leaves, and 2 tons of Habanero pepper every week.

Soilless Farm Lab is focused on accountability while providing healthy food. It had previously announced the opening of a physical shop in Nassarawa as well.

For years, the company has been perfecting its innovation, and it appears that the business side of things is now kicking off in full.
