Bells University of Technology is offering free education programmes in three agricultural disciplines for the 2024/2025 session.

The university’s College of Food, Agricultural Science And Technology (COLFAST) is offering Nigerian students bachelor’s degrees in agronomy, agribusiness, and fisheries and animal science from the Department of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology (AAT).

According to a flier making rounds on social media, interested students are required to have basic admission clearances.

For example, they must have passed English Language, Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry and Physics in WASSCE/GCE/NECO with at least a Credit and in no more than two sittings. Also, they must have passed the same subjects in UTME.

Students will additionally enjoy instructions in aeroponics, agropreneurship, aquaponics, greenhouse technology, hydroponics, soilless farming and tissue culture. They will benefit from real-time and onsite farm practical exposures. For admission application, students are directed to visit the school’s portal.

Founded in 2005 by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the private institution has its campus in Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria. The college of agriculture was added recently in 2023 and the free tuition scheme is a way to attract students.

This move is also timely because it aligns with Nigeria’s direction to make agriculture the cornerstone of the economy. Agricultural science presents several lucrative career opportunities for graduates.
