News in Brief:
– Turkish cherry growers anticipate a promising season after weather challenges in recent years, with improved conditions boosting prospects for better harvests.
– Demir Fresh Fruits gears up for expanded European markets, investing in quality assurance measures like advanced packing facilities, aiming to deliver premium cherries under their ‘BonBon’ brand.

Turkish cherry growers and exporters are brimming with optimism as the upcoming season promises to be a vast improvement over the challenges faced in recent years. Alper Kerim, owner of Turkish fruit exporter Demir Fresh Fruits, expresses confidence in a turnaround: “We are talking with our growers, and so far, the signs are promising.”

Previous seasons were marred by unfavourable weather conditions, leading to subpar harvests and diminished quality. Excessive rain during crucial harvest periods took a toll on cherry production, affecting local farmers’ livelihoods. However, this year paints a different picture, with less rainy weather offering hope for a bountiful harvest.

While Asian markets remain significant for Turkish cherries, attention is turning towards Europe for expansion opportunities. With agreements already in place with European supermarkets, Demir Fresh Fruits aims to meet the soaring demand for Turkish cherries in the region. Transit times favor shipments to Europe, providing a strategic advantage for exporters.

Despite the favourable outlook, uncertainties loom, particularly regarding weather fluctuations. Kerim acknowledges the ongoing risk posed by unpredictable weather patterns, emphasising the need for optimal conditions during the harvest period to ensure quality cherries reach the market.

To maintain a competitive edge, Demir Fresh Fruits has invested in state-of-the-art packing facilities, including a cutting-edge cherry packing machine. This technology allows for meticulous sorting, ensuring only the finest cherries bear the ‘BonBon’ brand. Kerim invites prospective buyers to experience the exquisite taste of Turkish cherries, underscoring the company’s commitment to excellence.
