Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has intensified efforts to develop agriculture and its value chain by embarking on trips to Finland and Sweden. He met with top Nigerian business personalities and organisations to explore potential partnerships and foreign aid.
Reportedly, Matajet Global Resources, a Sweden-based Nigerian International Agric Trade Organization, was one of the businesses represented at the meeting.
The organisation had previously held agriculture seminars and exhibitions in Ibadan, Oyo State, demonstrating its commitment to the agricultural sector in Nigeria. The Agricultural Exhibition served as a platform for Nigerian farmers, agricultural entrepreneurs, and other industry stakeholders to network, collaborate, and share ideas for promoting and growing their businesses.
Subsequently, Governor Makinde praised Matajet for its expertise and resourcefulness in agriculture. He also expressed interest in partnering with the Nigerian business community in Sweden.
Meantime, the Nigerian-Sweden business community, led by Mary Brakner, founder of Matajet and Yeye Oge Fashion, welcomed Makinde’s visit. They expressed hope that the meeting would strengthen cooperation between Nigeria and international business communities in promoting agriculture in the Southwest region.
Governor Makinde was also hosted to a business dinner in Stockholm by Nigerians in Diaspora (NIDO-Sweden), led by President Halima Balogun-Amedu. The dinner was organised by SchoolTRY AB, a Nigerian company based in Sweden.
The governor’s entourage included prominent figures such as Adebayo Lawal, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, Dr. Debo Akande who is the director general of Oyo State Agricultural Development Agency, and other state officials.
