The federal government of Nigeria distributed farm inputs and trained 243 farmers in Plateau state as part of its efforts to boost agricultural production and ensure food security.
The initiative, executed under the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy (NPRGS), aims to equip smallholder farmers with the tools and knowledge needed to enhance productivity and adopt sustainable practices.
Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Temitope Fadashemi, highlighted the program’s commitment to uplifting farmers’ lives and fostering a more resilient agricultural sector.
Additionally, Plateau Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Samson Bugama, urged beneficiaries to utilise the resources effectively and contribute to national poverty reduction.
The program provided liquid fertilisers, knapsack sprayers, seeds, agrochemicals, and fish and poultry feeds. It also included technical assistance and farm monitoring. This intervention aims to address food security concerns while paving the way for a more prosperous agricultural sector in Plateau State.
