During a recent visit to Olam’s integrated Rice Farm and mill in Nasarawa State, the Minister commended the company’s innovative practices and commitment to corporate social responsibility.
Generally, Olam Agri’s integrated rice farming operation has demonstrably boosted agricultural productivity in Nigeria. Spanning 13,500 hectares, the farm leverages mechanisation and technology-driven methods to achieve a paddy milling capacity of 210,000 metric tons. Furthermore, the company boasts an impressive yield of 4.3 tonnes of rice per hectare.
Beyond its agricultural achievements, Olam Agri’s dedication to corporate social responsibility drew praise from the Minister. The company actively engages with over 35,000 outgrower farmers, fostering their success.
Additionally, they invest in scholarships for young people, provide essential learning infrastructure within communities, and even support local residents with flood response initiatives. Their social responsibility efforts extend to providing solar lights for several host communities and rehabilitating access roads, making a tangible difference in people’s lives.
