Nigeria’s Ogun State government has reiterated its commitment to promoting mechanised agriculture to ensure food security within the state. This renewed focus was highlighted during a two-day training program organised for Ogun farmers by Contec Global Agro LTD.
The program, themed “Training for 2024 Planting Season and Distribution of Inputs and Seminar to the Farmers,” aimed to equip farmers with improved agricultural practices. Also, it included training sessions and the distribution of essential supplies like crop inputs, herbicides, and even poultry.
Bolu Owotomo, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, emphasised that the administration’s top priority was ensuring food security for the state. He pointed to various farmer empowerment programs already implemented, including initiatives focused on women farmers.
Furthermore, Mosunmola Owo-Odusi, the Ogun State Economic Transformation Project (OGSTEP) Project Coordinator, highlighted the training’s role in improving the capabilities of Ogun State farmers.
OGSTEP is dedicated to fostering change in the agricultural sector, provides extension officers and farmers with vital training and education on modern farming methods to boost productivity and overall food production.
