The Ogun State government has reaffirmed its commitment to boosting food production through increased support for farm settlements and market development.

During a visit to Ajegunle farm settlement in Odeda, Agriculture and Food Security Commissioner Bolu Owotomo emphasised the government’s intention to provide necessary support and interventions to enhance farm settlements’ productivity.

The commissioner announced plans for statewide rehabilitation of farm settlements, highlighting their importance to the administration’s agricultural agenda.

Also, Owotomo outlined plans to increase government intervention through various measures. These measures include providing agro-inputs, capacity building for smallholder farmers, and establishing storage and processing facilities to minimise post-harvest losses.

The agriculture commissioner also visited the Ogere International Market in Remo North, where he expressed the government’s intention to leverage Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) to optimize its utilisation for revenue generation. He noted that this was especially important in promoting trade, particularly in the livestock sector.

These initiatives underscore the Ogun State government’s commitment to revitalising its agricultural sector by empowering farmers, reducing post-harvest losses, and fostering market development through public and private partnerships.
