Winich Farms, a Nigerian Agri-FinTech startup, is gaining ground in the agricultural finance ecosystem with fresh backing from Egypt-based DisrupTech Ventures. The investment, part of the startup’s pre-Series A round, marks DisrupTech’s first venture outside Egypt and underscores growing investor confidence in Nigeria’s booming Agri-FinTech space.

Headquartered in Lagos, Winich Farms operates in 29 states and is redefining how Nigeria’s smallholder farmers, who contribute about 90% of the country’s food, access markets and finance. Through its digital platform, the startup connects farmers directly with retailers and processors, eliminating costly middlemen and increasing farmers’ profit margins.

More than just logistics, Winich Farms is also innovating in agricultural finance. It’s Winich Card system allows farmers to conduct cashless transactions and build a financial history—an essential requirement for future access to loans.

In collaboration with SeedFi, the company recently launched a produce-collateralised loan scheme, allowing farmers to use stored harvests as loan collateral; an alternative to traditional credit systems that often exclude rural farmers. Co-founder and CEO Attai Riches says this innovation is changing lives. “Farmers can now leverage their harvests to access financing without the usual barriers,” he explained.

The company has raised over $3 million to date from investors including Acumen, Sahel Capital, and Climate Resilient Africa Fund. Its network includes over 150,000 users, and it currently processes over $2.2 million in monthly orders.

DisrupTech Ventures’ Managing Partner, Mohamed Okasha, praised Winich’s scalable, tech-driven approach, saying it aligns with their goal of uplifting underserved communities through digital transformation.

With plans to expand into new regions across Africa and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, Winich Farms is fast becoming a model for how agriculture and finance can work together to empower farmers, drive food security, and reshape rural economies.
