The Oyo State and Federal Governments have jointly inaugurated a regional training facility in Ibadan to boost agricultural skills in the South West.

The newly established South West Regional Training Centre and Liaison Office of the Agricultural and Rural Management Training Institute (ARMTI) will serve as a key resource for farmers in the region.

ARMTI, an agency under the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, is responsible for training farmers across Nigeria in modern agricultural practices to empower them and enhance their agricultural productivity.

Oyo committed to agricultural advancement through farmers’ training

Speaking at the commissioning event in Ibadan, the Oyo State Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Olasunkanmi Olaleye, underscored the state’s dedication to improving agricultural output through collaborative efforts.

He stated that the institution’s centre aligns with the government’s ongoing initiatives to strengthen food security within the state.

Mr Olaleye further highlighted Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration’s focus on agricultural development through capacity-building programs.

Also, he noted that the Ministry of Agriculture has already provided training in contemporary farming techniques to over 3,000 farmers, resulting in significant improvements in productivity and sustainability within the agricultural sector.

Additionally, he affirmed the government’s commitment to supporting farmers and fostering a thriving agricultural landscape.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director/CEO of ARMTI, Olufemi Oladunni, expressed his appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde for his prompt approval and support for the regional office.

He stressed that this development demonstrates the state government’s commitment to ensuring food security both within Oyo State and across Nigeria.
