Lagos State is set to host its inaugural Shopping Festival from December 23rd to 25th at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced the event on the government’s official X page. It aims to stimulate commerce by supporting local businesses and attracting international brands while creating job opportunities.
The festival is also a collaboration between the Lagos State Government, Tolaram Africa Group, Guinness Nigeria Plc, Zenith Bank Plc, and Chain Reactions Africa. It is expected to draw both local and international tourists.
Sanwo-Olu thanked the partnering organisations for their support in making the event a reality. He noted the festival’s potential to elevate Lagos’s status as a shopping destination.
Furthermore, Damilola Pedro, Director of Organization and Logistics, highlighted the event’s role in promoting trade and commerce over the three days.
Additionally, Idris Aregbe, Special Adviser on Tourism, Culture, and Arts, shared insights into the planning process. He cited a successful April fair as a precursor to the larger-scale Shopping Festival. He noted that the previous event exceeded expectations, generating over ₦250 million in sales.
Meantime, as an inaugural event, the Lagos Shopping Festival is expected to be a grand spectacle with a focus on showcasing local and international brands. It will offer exciting deals and discounts, and provide a platform for emerging businesses.
