Kwara State Government Distributes Agricultural Equipment to Over 2019 Indigent Farmers

Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has distributed agricultural equipment to over 2,019 farmers in the state through the Kwara Fadama CARES intervention programme. This information is according to a statement by the program’s state Communication Officer, Dr. Sangodare Ayinla.

This latest distribution, the third phase of the program, provided farmers with items such as knapsack sprayers with protective gear, fish smoking kilns, irrigation equipment, livestock feeders, and threshing machines.

The governor was represented by the Chairman, State Fadama Technical Committee, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Ishiaq Olayinka Oloruko-Oba. He stated that the project aims to alleviate hardship and reduce hunger and poverty in the state. He warned beneficiaries against selling the equipment and urged them to use it effectively.

Meantime, the report mentioned that earlier phases of the program in 2022 saw 6,561 and 8,020 farmers benefit from similar interventions. So far, about 16,000 participants have benefited from the programme, since inception.

Also, Kwara State Project Coordinator for Fadama CARES, Dr. Busari Toyin Isiaka, explained that the program aligns with the goals of the COVID-19 economic recovery plan, supported by Governor AbdulRazaq. He clarified that the distributed agricultural equipment and supplies are provided free of charge.
