FG Donates 1,000 Seedlings To Support Ogun State’s Tree Planting Initiative

Nigeria’s federal government reiterated its support to the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in its environmental efforts during the institute’s 60th anniversary, themed ‘Green Nigeria’.

To this end, Nigeria’s Minister of State for environment, Dr. Iziaq Salako, announced the donation of 1,000 tree seedlings to the NIPR’s Green Park project in Ogun state as it unveiled the Diamond Anniversary Green Park.

The minister, represented by Professor Zacharia Yaduma, Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN), commended the NIPR for its commitment to environmental sustainability.

Meantime, highlighting the importance of the tree planting initiative, Salako emphasised the need for collective action to address climate change. He urged stakeholders to embrace practices that promote environmental stewardship and reduce Nigeria’s carbon footprint.

Additionally, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, represented by the Head of Service, Kehinde Onasanya, also commended the public relations institute for its contribution to societal well-being through the tree planting project. He acknowledged the long-term benefits of the initiative, stating that the trees planted would serve future generations.

The federal government’s donation signifies its support for environmental initiatives and aligns with the NIPR’s vision for a greener Nigeria and is in support of the environmental initiatives of the agency.
