FAO, Hungarian Government Partner To Offer Scholarships For Agriculture Masters In Hungary

– The FAO and Hungarian Government are offering scholarships for students from eligible countries, including Nigeria, to pursue Master’s degrees in agriculture at top Hungarian universities.
– It aims to address the need for skilled professionals in the agricultural sector in developing countries, covering tuition, accommodation, books, subsistence, and health insurance.

The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) and the Hungarian Government have announced a joint scholarship program for students from Nigeria and other eligible countries to pursue Master’s degrees in agriculture at renowned Hungarian universities.

This collaboration aims to address the growing need for skilled professionals in the agricultural sector, particularly in developing countries. The scholarships will cover tuition fees, accommodation, books, subsistence costs, and health insurance for the duration of the program.

The scholarships are available for a range of English-language Master’s programs at the following universities:

  • Master in Horticultural Engineering – Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Buda Campus, Budapest.
  • Sopron University, Sopron (Master in Environmental Engineering).
  • Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Szent István Campus, Gödöllő (Master in Crop Production Engineering).

Candidates will be selected based on academic achievements, English proficiency, motivation, health status, and age (preferably under 30). Interested applicants can submit their dossiers via email, (in English) to REU-Scholarship@fao.org.

The dossier must include completed application form, recent CV, copies of academic certificates, certificate of good conduct, and transcripts. Others are English proficiency certificate, health certificate, passport copies and letters of recommendation.

For more clarificatons and additional details, applicants should read the course description and application procedure and apply through the application form. 

A few other things to note is that incomplete dossiers will not be considered and files missing names will not be processed.

Meanwhile, FAO will pre-screen candidates and submit applications to the Ministry of Agriculture of Hungary, from where they will be sent to the corresponding University that the applicants chose.

The deadline for application to this programme via email is from 15 January to 29 February 2024.
