Former Nigerian Senate President Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan has distributed a diverse range of resources through the sixth edition of the Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan (SAIL) Empowerment Programme.

The event, held at the Gashua township stadium Yobe State, saw beneficiaries receive various items including vehicles like Peugeot sedans, Sharon buses, Toyota buses, tractors, combined harvesters, rice planters, fire trucks, tricycles, motorcycles, generators, refrigerators, grinding machines, sewing machines, irrigation pumps, and more.

Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, inaugurated the program and commended Senator Lawan for the initiative’s alignment with the government’s poverty alleviation and wealth creation efforts.

Meantime, Senator Lawan, in his speech, emphasised the program’s aim to empower constituents and foster self-reliance. He acknowledged the impossibility of aiding everyone simultaneously but pledged to gradually reach as many people as possible.

He explained that the event is about empowering those he believes deserve it at that point. He added that the empowerment programme was not meant to provide for everyone.

Furthermore, he highlighted the program’s focus on long-term sustainability, stating that his team believes in what they do because it’s ‘better to teach a man how to fish than give him the fish, and it’s over.’

Lawan expressed his gratitude to his constituents for their unwavering support throughout his political career, particularly during challenging times. He reaffirmed his commitment to securing federal investment in Yobe North and beyond.
