– European markets welcome season’s first shipment of Rojo Brillante kakis from Uruguay, with consumers embracing the fruit’s quality and larger sizes.
– Grupo Fruta de Autor anticipates marketing 8 containers of off-season kakis this year, highlighting industry growth prospects and positive market reception.
European markets are currently buzzing with excitement as they welcome the season’s inaugural shipment of Rojo Brillante kakis from Uruguay, a news report says. These vibrant fruits are making their mark on foreign shelves, gradually captivating consumers during the spring months.
Manuel Baides, the manager of Grupo Fruta de Autor, shares insights into the market dynamics.
“Last week marked the arrival of the first container of Persimmon-type kakis from Uruguay. We swiftly distributed these delights to our clientele across the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and the Netherlands,” he said.
Baides adds that there is a notable enthusiasm among consumers, attributing it to the fruit’s impressive quality and larger sizes, despite Uruguay’s slightly reduced production this year.
Anticipating a robust season, Grupo Fruta de Autor foresees marketing approximately 8 containers of off-season kakis this year, marking their 4th campaign.
Baides underscores the evolving landscape. “While the supply of South American kakis remains modest, the industry is witnessing a promising trajectory,” he stated. He higlights the company’s strategic intent to invest in origin productions, aligning with the industry’s upward momentum.
Baides paints a picture of optimism, citing Favourable weather conditions bolstering kaki consumption. “The current commercial climate is buoyant, with mild weather driving heightened kaki consumption,” he remarks.
This positive trend is expected to persist until mid-June, before yielding to the influx of stone fruit volumes. Simultaneously, the transition is underway, with Senegalese melon and watermelon shipments winding down, paving the way for the arrival of Almería’s first watermelons.
