In a major step towards strengthening Nigeria’s agricultural sector, the European Union has officially launched the EU–Nigeria Agribusiness Platform (EUNAP).
This digital initiative is part of the EU’s long-term strategy to support the West African nation’s efforts to make agriculture a key driver of inclusive growth, job creation, and food security.
Unveiled on Friday in Abuja, EUNAP is a multi-stakeholder platform designed to connect Nigerian and European agribusiness players—from farmers and processors to investors and policymakers.
Funded by the EU and implemented by Agribusiness Register Limited (ARL), the platform aims to foster innovation, boost trade, and increase access to finance across key agricultural value chains.
Mr. Massimo De Luca, Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, described the initiative as a bridge between continents.
“EUNAP isn’t just about digital tools; it’s about transforming Nigerian agribusiness into a globally competitive and sustainable force,” he said.
Roland Oroh, CEO of ARL, called EUNAP a game-changer. “We are enabling real-time collaboration and unlocking investment opportunities that will drive Nigeria’s agricultural transformation,” Oroh explained.
Beyond its digital matchmaking tools, EUNAP also supports policy dialogue, sustainable farming practices, and trade partnerships. The platform is expected to generate an estimated €575 million in additional trade value, connecting Nigerian businesses with buyers and investors across the EU’s 28 member states.
With strong backing from both the EU and Nigerian stakeholders, EUNAP promises to reshape Nigeria’s agribusiness landscape, offering a new era of growth, resilience, and international collaboration for local farmers and agripreneurs.
