Denmark To Help Improve Productivity, Efficiency In Ukraine’s Agriculture

Must Read

News in brief: Denmark has pledged to assist Ukraine in improving its agriculture sector by providing financial and technical support, aiming to increase productivity and access to new markets, while also expressing interest in importing more of its agricultural products.

Denmark has announced a pledge to help Ukraine develop its agricultural sector as its war with Russia continue to affect all aspect of the country.

The Danish government will provide financial and technical assistance to help Ukrainian farmers improve their productivity and efficiency, a state information and news agency, Ukrinform, said in a report.

It will also develop new markets for their products as Danish Minister for Agriculture, Rasmus Prehn, praised Ukraine’s enormous agricultural potential, which his country is committed to help realise. This move could help Ukrainian farmers to export their products to new markets, such as Asia and Africa.

Furthermore, Prehn said that Denmark is also interested in importing more Ukrainian agricultural products, such as wheat, corn, and sunflower oil. According to a 2022 report, it mainly imported wheat from Sweden and Germany with Ukraine off its top ten customers.

While the exact details of the assistance package is not yet available, the Danish government says it is expected to focus on providing Ukrainian farmers with access to new technologies, such as precision agriculture and renewable energy sources.

Additionally, the assistance will prioritise supporting rural communities by providing funding for infrastructure projects, such as roads and irrigation systems.

Denmark pledging to help Ukraine develop its agriculture sector is hailed by many as a welcome development. Ukraine is a major exporter of agricultural products, and the war with Russia has disrupted its agricultural supply chains.

With Denmark’s assistance, Ukrainian farmers can begin their journey to recover from the war and to improve global food productivity.
