In a significant stride towards fostering collaboration in the animal nutrition market, Feedlatina, the association of animal feed industries in Latin America and the Caribbean, is gearing up for its bi-annual workshop in São Paulo, Brazil.

Roberto Betancourt, a stalwart in the international feed scene, assumes the presidency for the 2024-2025 term.

Established by Brazil and Mexico, Feedlatina comprises member countries such as Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay.

The association’s mission is to advance the development, harmonisation, and maintenance of regulatory frameworks ensuring free trade in the animal nutrition market, focusing on quality, safety, and food security.

New leadership and regulatory talks

Roberto Betancourt, the newly elected president, brings a wealth of experience, having served as the president of the Brazilian Feed Industry Association (Sindirações) and as a board member of the International Feed Industry Federation (IFIF).

The Latin American Workshop on Regulatory Affairs, a cornerstone event organized by Feedlatina, will take place on August 7-8, 2024, in São Paulo, hosted jointly with SIAVS, the International Animal Protein Trade Show.

With the Latin American region producing 155,875 metric tons of feed in 2023, the workshop gains significance for local farmers. The breakdown includes 94,620 metric tons for poultry, 89,067 for swine, and 57,346 for cattle.

Talks at the event will encompass crucial aspects such as product registration, regulations for feed plants, and antimicrobial resistance.
