The highly anticipated Lagos Shopping Festival is set to begin Monday 23rd December, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos. This 72-hour non-stop shopping extravaganza offers a retail experience for both residents and tourists. The festival, organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture in partnership with Chain Reaction Ltd, will run from 23rd to 25th December.

According to Mr Idris Aregbe, Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism, Arts and Culture, the event will provide incredible deals, exclusive discounts, and a world-class shopping experience. This was revealed in a post on the official X page of the Lagos State government.

Also, Aregbe stated that the festival will showcase the rich culture and diverse offerings of Nigeria. He encouraged both local and international shoppers to indulge in this unique opportunity.

A diverse range of offerings

Meantime, the Lagos Shopping Festival will feature over 500 vendors, including local artisans and internationally renowned brands. Also, a wide array of products will be available that will encompass fashion, electronics, beauty items, home decor, gourmet food, and more.

Aregbe noted that the Lagos Shopping Festival is more than just a shopping event, as it is a celebration of the city’s vibrant culture, creativity, and commerce.

Effectively, the festival aims to:

  1. Promote the fashion and retail sectors: Showcase the latest trends and support local artisans.
  2. Attract tourists: Position Lagos alongside global shopping destinations like Dubai and Istanbul.
  3. Boost local businesses: Provide a platform for small businesses to connect with a wider audience.
  4. Create jobs: Generate employment opportunities through vendor participation and event management.

Finally, the festival is expected to become an annual event, further solidifying Lagos’s position as a major economic and cultural hub in Africa.
