Upcoming Thai fruit festival in China

The Thai Fruit Festival, scheduled for May 8 to 14 in China, will be jointly organised by Thailand’s Department of Agriculture, the Thai Embassy in Beijing, and Pagoda. This collaborative effort aims to showcase Thailand’s diverse fruit offerings and strengthen market presence amid intensifying competition.

With mounting competition, particularly from Vietnam, Thailand’s fresh fruit sector is actively forging new alliances and fortifying existing ones. The recent agreements with Pagoda signal a proactive approach to securing market share. Notably, Thailand’s export prowess to China underscores its significance as a key player in the global fruit trade.

For local farmers in Thailand, these partnerships present lucrative opportunities to tap into the vast Chinese market. With Thailand permitted to export 22 types of fruit to China, the prospects for increased revenue and market access are promising. The exponential growth in fruit exports, especially durians, underscores the economic significance of these collaborations for local farmers.
