The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has revealed the blueprint for the World Food Forum (WFF) 2024. With this year’s theme, “Good food for all, for today and tomorrow,” the forum gears up for a pivotal role in reshaping global agrifood dynamics.

Marking the climax of a year-long series of events, the flagship gathering is slated for October 14-18. Showcasing sessions ranging from Global Youth Action to Science and Innovation, the event promises to ignite transformative dialogues.

Notably, the Mid-term Forum of the UN Decade of Family Farming will spotlight the indispensable role of family farming in fostering innovative agrifood ecosystems.

In addition, coinciding with the annual World Food Day on October 16, this year’s celebration zooms in on the “Right to Foods.” With a focus on diversity, nutrition, affordability, and safety, the initiative champions accessible, healthy diets for all. As FAO gears up to commemorate its 80th anniversary in 2025, the 2024 World Food Day heralds a poignant countdown.

Emphasising the fusion of generations, Máximo Torero, FAO’s Chief Economist, envisions a dynamic platform fostering intergenerational collaboration. With the integration of events and forums, the week unfolds as a global crucible, nurturing transformative strides across policies, science, and education.

Initiated in 2021, the WFF emerges as a beacon of youth-led advocacy, galvanised by FAO’s facilitation. Fuelled by a mission to catalyse agrifood system transformations aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the forum champions actionable solutions and multi-sector partnerships.
