The Edo state government has distributed agricultural inputs and equipment to 471 small-holder farmers in Edo Central Senatorial District in preparation for the 2024 planting season.

Governor Godwin Obaseki, represented by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Stephen Idehenre, launched the initiative under the EDO FADAMA CARES Result Area 2 program.

The program aims to support over 12,000 farmers statewide with inputs, equipment, and essential supplies. State project coordinator, Edward Izevbigie stated that the inputs were of very quality and will prove profitable for farmers, being of hybrid varieties.

Distributed items included cassava stem cuttings, maize seeds, fertiliser, herbicides, multipurpose grinding machines, and tricycles.

The program also supports irrigation facilities, feeder road improvements, and the construction of markets with amenities.
