To tackle the ongoing food crisis and promote food security, the Akwa Ibom State government announced a program distributing free farm inputs to farmers. This initiative aligns with Governor Umo Eno’s commitment to boosting agricultural production.

Dr. Offiong Offor, the Commissioner for Agriculture, highlighted the program’s significance at the launch ceremony held at the Multiplication Seed Farm (MSF) in Okobo Local Government Area. She reiterated the government’s focus on ‘agricultural revolution’ and its aim to support the first planting season of the year.

Furthermore, the commissioner urged registered cooperatives, farming groups, and individual farmers to visit their local government headquarters for verification to access these government-provided agricultural resources. She also expressed gratitude to the host community for its cooperation and pledged the government’s ongoing support.

Additionally, the Deputy Governor Senator Akon Eyakenyi, represented by Mr. Samuel Umium, director of Administration, commended the governor’s model farm initiative aimed at achieving food security. Eyakenyi conveyed appreciation to the agriculture commissioner and her team for their efforts and pledged further support for the program’s success.

Representatives from the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) and the host community lauded this intervention, showcasing widespread support for the initiative.
