The announcement, made at Ferme Jocelyn Michon in Saint-Hyacinthe, emphasises the commitment to local farmers. Minister André Lamontagne, acknowledging last summer’s weather challenges, introduced a crucial alteration in the terms of financial assistance payments. Unused amounts will now experience a complete deferral, recognising the difficulties faced by businesses in implementing certain practices.

As part of the new Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership 2023-2028, the federal government will contribute $24.1 million to the initiative. Additionally, operators can enhance their agri-environmental knowledge through training courses, receiving financial assistance of up to $1,500 per business.
The registration period for this funding opportunity will run from March 4 to March 31, 2024, or until funds are depleted.
