The Lagos State government has partnered with Amo Farm Sieberer Hatchery Limited to empower 50 residents with 1,000 Noiler birds in a move to combat food insecurity, poverty, and malnutrition.

This initiative was launched by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation and beneficiaries were carefully selected residents from the Lagos State Social Registry with a toolkit for success. The beneficiaries received training on efficient poultry practices from Amo Farm’s National Sales Coordinator for Noiler, Olayinka Akorede. They learned start-up packs of 20 five-week-old Noiler Birds, 25kg of Amo Byng Grower Pellet, and a pack of feed blend of Divertamin.

The company’s national sales coordinator said the bird’s hardy nature and ability to thrive on kitchen waste made it perfect for small-holder farmers.

Meantime, the Noiler Empowerment programme was among other projects presented at the micro-enterprise support ceremony hosted by the Commissioner, Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Cecilia Bolaji Dada.

Amo Farm’s Business Development Manager, Itoro Awala-Ale, revealed that beneficiaries of the program in Lagos State will be assisted further through extension services and support throughout their Noiler poultry ventures. They were also connected to farmer satisfaction representatives.

Amo Farm, an enterprise headed by Dr Ayoola Oduntan, produces over a million chicks per week. It builds on the company’s support of a reported 1.3 million small-holder farmers through Noiler farming.

Overall, Amo Farm has restated its dedication to agricultural innovation that enhances food security which is especially significant as it boosts income generation, while fulfilling the nutritional needs of the people.
